“Nightshade” abstract – Acrylics on canvas
“Nightshade” is a deep and dark abstract painting with emerging flickers of light.
Once in a while, I have the urge to paint something, but the creative juices aren’t flowing. I end up with simple backgrounds, usually in primary colours. These plain canvases wait around until I have something to paint onto them that might match. Or, if I feel energetic with my painting, I just throw the paint onto the canvas, sometime literally. This is how “Nightshade” came about. I mixed some textured and iridescent (shiny) gels in with dark and light blue, yellow and white paints. I moved the paint around the canvas using a palette knife and created some texturing. Although this art work may look and feel dark, it makes me smile, knowing that there are glimmers of light shining through from beneath.
