“Running Horse” abstract art – Acrylics on board

“Running Horse” is an experimental abstract painting. My first time to use a horse as a subject, and a completely freestyle approach to palette knife painting. I wanted movement, vibrancy and colour.

I painted him during an “Animals in Speed Acrylics” art workshop run by Tindalls  Art & Crafts in Newmarket. The workshop was tutored by local artist, Lois Cordelia. Newmarket is a famous horse racing town, also known as “The home of horse racing”. The town is also home to many well known artists who have a primary focus of painting horses. Therefore, I felt that it was appropriate to attempt my first painting of a horse, while in Newmarket. I  used bright and shimmering colours, while using the coloured board as a means to compliment the horse. Two shades of pink, blue and white.

Size: 28 x 21” – 710 x 530 mm (framed)
